Description

New Zealand is a mature oil and gas province of complex geology dominated by the collision of the Australian and Pacific Plates.  It is located at one of the far reaches of the oil and gas supply chain; and, as with many provinces is evolving the commercial aspects of Oil and Gas Permits (concessions) and regulatory requirements to balance the needs of the New Zealand government and the oil and gas operator.  Mr. Bob Banks, Vice President, International Operations and Strategic Ventures - Swift Energy Company, will present a view of the issues and the applications of the oil and gas operator in this challenging environment.

Robert J. Banks


Robert J. Banks joined Swift Energy Company in 2004 as Vice President, International Operations and Strategic Ventures. In this role Mr. Banks is responsible for oversight of the Company’s international activity and company-wide growth initiatives.


Mr. Banks has 30 years of experience in both U.S. and international E&P activities.  His responsibilities have included exploration, development, exploitation, and acquisition projects.


Prior to joining Swift, Mr. Banks held executive level positions at Vanco Energy Company, Mosbacher Energy Company, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Santa Fe International Corporation. His direct project responsibilities have included E&P operations in numerous countries including Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Madagascar, Morocco, Namibia, Netherlands, Senegal, Tunisia, U.K. and the United States.


Mr. Banks began his career with Santa Fe International Corporation.  Following his completion of a technical and management training program, he was assigned key positions in Santa Fe’s drilling, engineering and oil and gas subsidiaries.


Mr. Banks received his B.Sc degree in Economics and Finance in 1976 from The Pennsylvania State University and has post-graduate work toward an MBA in International Management from the University of Dallas.
