Description

Despite their growing popularity within the technical community, a number of issues need to be resolved before expandable screen completions can become practical, broad-based alternatives to frac packs and openhole gravel packing. Using recent case histories and laboratory simulations, this presentation will address screen weave sizing for deployment in sized-solids conditioned muds, the trade-offs between base pipe strength and expansion forces, and the methodology by which adjustable cone technology can expand solid pipe such that the screen and openhole packer shape to the wellbore. Also included will be a discussion of recent lessons learned which help provide a basis for understanding the risks associated with the implementation of expandable screen technology.
Walk-ins will be charged an additional $5.00 at the door.
