Abstract

Completion and well spacing optimization in Unconventional, Multi-Stage Horizontal wells is a complex process.  This presentation will step through the process of reservoir characterization and fracture effectiveness using production analysis to build the models necessary to answer the questions on optimization.  Formation permeability and fracture treatment effectiveness are the two primary values that affect productivity.  In Unconventional Hz wells, effective fracture half-length is the primary value controlling EUR.  Determining these values from the analysis of production data will be presented and discussed.

Examples from real wells will be presented.  The economic impact of the decisions made in well spacing control the success or failure of a project.
