Lee Tillman is chairman, president and CEO of Marathon Oil Corporation and chairman of the Marathon Oil Corporation Board of Directors. He joined the Company in August 2013.


Prior to joining Marathon Oil, Lee served as vice president of engineering for ExxonMobil Development Company (a project design and execution company), where he was responsible for all global engineering staff engaged in major project concept selection, front-end design and engineering. He served as North Sea production manager and lead country manager for subsidiaries of ExxonMobil in Stavanger, Norway, from 2007 and 2010, and as acting vice president, ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company from 2006 to 2007. Lee began his career in the oil and gas industry at Exxon Corporation in 1989 as a research engineer and has extensive operations management and leadership experience that has included assignments in Jakarta, Indonesia; Aberdeen, Scotland; Stavanger, Norway; Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Dallas and New Orleans.


Lee sits on the board and the executive committee of both the American Petroleum Institute and the American Exploration & Production Council. He is a member of the Chemical Engineering and Engineering Advisory Councils of Texas A&M University and is a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He serves on the board of directors of the Houston Area and Southwest Region of the American Heart Association and is a member of the Celebration of Reading Committee within the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, and a member of the advisory board of Spindletop Charities


Lee earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Auburn University.

As President of the Energy Workforce & Technology Council, Molly Determan is a leader in the development and management of the association’s strategy and activities to promote the energy services and technology sector of the oil and gas industry.


Determan advocates on behalf of the energy workforce and speaks frequently on workforce, culture, leadership, HSE and supply chain. Additionally, she oversees Energy Workforce Committees, including those focused on leadership development, best practice sharing and benchmarking, as well as the acclaimed State Department Houston Energy Course.


Determan has bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and German from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Determan serves on the World Oil Editorial Board, Success to Significance Host Committee for Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, and is a member of Rotary International. She was named an E&P Magazine “40 Under Forty” honoree in 2021, and HBJ’s Women Who Mean Business Award in 2023.

Originally from the U.K., Chahal has 20 years of experience working in a variety of technical and management roles across the U.S. and Europe. He has held leadership positions in operations, subsurface development and appraisal, corporate planning and strategy and capital projects, supporting offshore conventional, LNG, onshore unconventional and EOR assets.


Chahal earned a Master of Engineering degree with honors in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London in 2003. He is also a Chartered Engineer in Europe and a Project Management Professional.

Before his current role, Maziar served as a Senior Consultant at S&P Global Commodity Insights' Upstream Technical Consulting practice in Houston, TX, where he led client engagement in M&A due diligence and thought leadership initiatives. His work involved close collaboration with public/private C-suite executives and government officials drawing on his diverse industry experience.


 


Maziar actively contributes to the professional community as a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Gulf Coast Section. He is the Young Professionals representative of the US National Committee to the World Petroleum Council (WPC Energy) and is recognized as a Future Energy Leader by the CERAweek Future Energy Leaders Program. Additionally, he serves as the President of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) Petroleum Academy Alumni Network.


 


Maziar started his professional career by laying a diverse foundation, initially working as an Energy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., where he focused on natural gas regulation and international engagement. His early involvement in the energy industry began at the age of 16 with internship roles at Shell Oil Company, Bechtel Corporation,  and later TimkenSteel at the university level. Maziar received his B.S. Petroleum Engineering from the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston with additional minor in Energy & Sustainability from the University of Houston Honors College.

Starting his career in as a roughneck on the oilrigs of Northern Alberta he grew through the ranks until he was Chief Executive of Canada’s oldest drilling company. In the midst of the pandemic and negative oil prices, he began Canada’s first energy technology venture studio and Alberta’s first energy venture capital fund backed by some of the largest energy companies in the work, as CEO of Avatar Innovations.


 


Accomplished in corporate strategy and governance, capital planning, marketing, technology and intellectual property management, Kevin’s leadership has led to the creation, financing and execution of some of the first fully computerized drilling rig in Canada, the first long-reach horizontal well in the Canadian arctic, numerous joint ventures with Canada’s Indigenous peoples fostering Economic Reconciliation in remote communities and the creation of the Calgary Energy Transition Center. 


 


Having led a major corporation through the disruption of the Canadian energy industry, Kevin is uniquely positioned to lead Avatar Innovations’ ambitious plan unlocking energy transition solutions inside oil and gas for investment, commercialization and scale. As Chief Digital Officer of Baker Hughes’s Oilfield Services and Equipment (OFSE) business segment, Jim Brady directs the development and execution of the organization’s digital strategy leveraging 35 years of oil and gas industry experience. An electrical engineer by trade, Jim started and spent 32 years of his career at Schlumberger, working his way up from a wireline systems engineering to the vice president of digital operations. Jim also held executive roles in hardware, software and IT, while in WesternGeco, SIS, WesternGeco, and global IT. 


Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Jim was CTO - Energy at EPAM, where he directed technology and solution strategy for the Energy Software and Services division, working with companies on their own digital transformation. Prior to EPAM, he was CIO at Katerra, a Silicon Valley construction technology startup. Jeff Miers is the Global Director of Partnerships and Alliances for the Energy & Utilities Industry Business Unit (IBU) at Amazon Web Services (AWS), based in Houston. At AWS Jeff works with traditional oil and gas, renewable energy producers, and utility customers and partners on solutions to key business and operational challenges.
Prior to joining AWS, Jeff was a Managing Director at Accenture where he spent 27 years leading consulting and systems implementation projects with clients through all aspects of the energy industry, including upstream, downstream, oilfield services, deregulated gas and power.



Jeff serves as a member of the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, Spring Spirit and the Galveston Bay Foundation, and previously served on the board of the Houston Golf Association.
