Join us for our first in person event! A Live Podcast Interview with SPE GCS Chapter Chair Carlos Torres, on the state of Diversity and Inclusion practices in the energy industry, and how capitalizing on the value of our diverse workforce, can help us achieve the energy transition. This conversation will focus on the lessons he has learned about diversity and inclusion from his expansive career in different countries around the world, as well as his vision for how the industry can capitalize on the value of our diverse workforce. We will also discuss how his diverse background helped him become a successful entrepreneur, as well as the challenges and opportunities he has faced since he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey.

A networking session will follow the interview. Light refreshments and drinks will be served.

Carlos A. Torres is the founder and owner of Royal Oaks Energy Services, a company focused on technical and business consulting in well intervention. Upon graduating as a Chemical Engineer at the UNIMET in Venezuela in the year 2000, Carlos began his career in the O&G Industry joining Schlumberger that same year. During his tenure with Schlumberger, he progressed from field, technical, sales, operations and several managerial positions in Well Intervention and Pressure Pumping in different regions around the world, such as Southeast Asia, Europe, Venezuela and USA.
In 2016 he moved on to Gulfstream Services Inc., a private equity owned company, where until 2018 he served as Director of Sales and Business Development, managing 6 different product lines: cementing systems, frack/gravel pack support equipment, rental tools, wireline pressure control, decommissioning services, and HP iron management. In the last 7 years he has consolidated Royal Oaks Energy Services as a trusted Advisor and Project Management for Service Companies, Start Ups, Procurement Supplier and Equipment Rentals for companies in the US and Internationally.
Carlos has been an SPE member since 2002 and also served on SPE Delta Section from 2009-15. In 2019, he joined the SPE GCS board as Secretary, and is currently the Section Chair. Carlos has authored and co-authored several technical publications for the industry.

Dr. Flores is a polymer chemistry by training and began her industry career by performing a variety of roles in technical service, innovation, product development, and marketing. She has experience in several different industries, including chemicals for coatings, oil and gas, and personal care; as well additive manufacturing or 3D printing. Dr. Flores is the author of a patent and of more than half a dozen peer-review publications. In 2020, she became a podcaster with the launch of Latinx Can, a podcast highlighting the stories of latinx professionals and the tips and tricks that helped them turn their dreams into reality.
