Description

How can oil and gas companies better adapt to the energy transition? How can the world end energy poverty?  What are key trends to look out for? To help answer these questions, the SPE Business Development Group is hosting a two-part event.

First, we will provide registrants with on-demand access to a screening of the film Switch On where Dr. Scott Tinker explores how fossil fuels and new energy sources are combatting global energy poverty together. The film examines the very human story of energy poverty to raise awareness of this global problem. Tinker travels to rural villages and urban slums in Colombia, Nepal, Kenya, Vietnam, and Ethiopia to discover some of the creative approaches being deployed to bring electricity, water pumps, cook stoves, and irrigation to those with no energy.

Second, there will be virtual meeting on September 16th that will kick off with a Q&A session with Dr. Tinker followed by an Energy Transition and ESG panel featuring senior energy executives and investors. The panelists will discuss the role of energy and the energy transition in reducing poverty, emerging technologies and trends, natural gas as a bridge fuel, opportunities to produce oil and gas with a lower environmental footprint, managing stakeholder expectations, and the skillset needed to thrive in the energy transition.

The schedule will be:

3:30 – 4:00 PM Switch On Q&A

4:00 – 5:00 PM Energy Transition and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) panel

5:00 - 5:30 PM Virtual Networking

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in ending global energy poverty while keeping pulse of the ongoing energy transformation.
