Description
Enabled by high-resolution geochemical analysis tools and data analytics techniques, the industry started to unravel the values in geochemical information extracted directly from the produced fluid and rock samples. There are thousands of compounds naturally occurring in the hydrocarbon that carry tremendous amount of information about subsurface fluid flow and reservoir dynamics. By directly monitoring and data mining the unique geochemical fingerprints in the produced oil and oil extracted from the rock, critical reservoir characterization and performance information such as fluid mobility, drainage frac heights, and well communication can be quantified through time to facilitate reservoir development decision-making. This presentation will cover the fundamentals of geochemical fingerprint technology and its key applications to improve unconventional reservoir economics and reserves calculation by guiding well stacking & spacing, completion design, as well as EOR decisions.
