Applying a novel technology for estimating shale productivity along entire well in Permian Basin

May 16, 2017

Description

Traditional interpretation of log data is not applicable to formation evaluation in shale. As result the operators have been developing shale deposits blindfold. According to Industry experts, 95% of oil from shale reservoirs is left in the ground and two-thirds of fracks are not produced.

Texas-based Amros Corporation solved these problems developing a technology that uses standard open-hole log data to calculate a Production Profile that shows productivity along entire well.

Dr. Vladimir G. Ingerman, who holds an MS in Geophysical Methods from Oil Institute of Grozny, a PhD in Oil Field Development from National Science Research Institute of Natural Gas, and a Doctorate of Technical Science from Institute of Oil, Chemical, and Gas Industries, has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector across the US, Russia, India, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Denmark.

He was Vice President of Tyumenneftegeophysica, the second largest Service Company in the Oil Ministry. In this company he was in charge of the development, implementation, and support of the software for automated processing of log data. This software captured almost 100% of oil and gas wells in Western Siberia - the largest oil and gas region in Former Soviet Union, and is still in use. The total number of the wells where software was applied exceeded a million. He made a petrophysical zonation for the Western Siberian oil and gas region that included dozens of oil, gas and gas-condensate fields.

He also worked for Halliburton and Schlumberger in the United States and many oil companies in USA, South America and Europe. The list included Amoco, Shell International, El Paso, Mobil, Maersk Oil, W&T Offshore, Chaparral Resources, Union Texas Petroleum, Pemex, Pdvsa, Ecopetrol, Petrobras, and Petroecuador, among others.

Over the years, international and domestic experience in the evaluation of clastics and carbonates, conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons, interpretation of open and cased hole logs and integration with geological, CCAL, SCAL, geophysical, and engineering data to build static and dynamic models. His experience encompasses exploration, integrated field studies, data management, database optimization, software development and optimization of production of mature fields.

As the founder and president of Amros Corporation with proprietary technology for calculating production profiles and completions optimizations for shale oil deposits, he has developed a new way of looking at the same data that everyone else sees, but in a way that no one else can. The technology was recognized as a finalist for the World Oil Awards 2016 in the category New Horizons
