James J. Volker, 62, is President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Whiting Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Volker has been a director of Whiting Petroleum Corporation since 2003 and a director of Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation since 2002. He joined Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation in August 1983 as Vice President of Corporate Development and served in that position through April 1993. In May 1993, he became a contract consultant to Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation and served in that capacity until August 2000, at which time he became Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Volker was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and a director of Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation in January 2002. Mr. Volker was co-founder, Vice President and later President of Energy Management Corporation from 1971 through 1982. He has over 38 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry. Mr. Volker has a degree in finance from the University of Denver, an MBA from the University of Colorado and has completed H. K. VanPoolen and Associates’ course of study in reservoir engineering.
A. Lance Langford is Executive Vice President of Operations for Brigham Exploration Company. Mr. Langford, joined Brigham as Manager of Operations in 1995 and has served as Vice President -- Operations from January 1997 to March 2001, and as Senior Vice President - Operations since March 2001. From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Langford served in various engineering capacities with Meridian Oil Inc., handling a variety of reservoir, production and drilling responsibilities. Mr. Langford holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University
Jeff Vaughan is the President and CEO of Tracker Resource Development and President of affiliated companies Tracker Resource Exploration N.D. and TRZ Energy LLC. Tracker Resource Development (Tracker) is a private, EnCap Investments backed oil and gas company based in Denver, Colorado. Tracker focuses on technically challenging projects with significant resource potential and historically low recoveries. By applying reservoir characterization, integrating petro physical data and implementing modern completion technology; Tracker has been able to convert previously uneconomic prospects into profitable and repeatable resource development plays. Tracker has successfully employed this strategy over the last five years across Texas, the Mid-Continent and the Rocky Mountain regions. Tracker’s largest current project is a 90,000 acre position in the Bakken/Three Forks play of North Dakota. Tracker has drilled 21 wells to date which equates to nearly 40 miles of horizontal lateral.
Jeff is a registered professional petroleum engineer (Colorado School of Mines,1982) with over 27 years of leadership experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to forming Tracker, Jeff served as CEO of Entre Energy Partners & oversaw the development of various Projects in Texas and the Mid-Continent region. This portfolio of properties sold for $370,000,000 in 2006/2007. Before that, Jeff was President of Buena Vista Development, a division of SCP Management Co, formed to identify and develop bypassed reserves in the 7 billion barrel Buena Vista Hills field located in Kern County, California.
Jeff joined Sandefer Capital Partners in January of 1998 to source and develop investment opportunities in the Rocky Mountain area. Prior to this, Jeff was the Manager of Crude Oil and Natural Gas Trading for Giant Industries, Arizona Inc. and Vice-President, Operations and Engineering for Giant Exploration & Production Company. Before joining Giant, Jeff worked for The Williams Companies for nine years, holding various engineering positions. Jeff was fortunate to help lead Williams’ Fruitland Coal drilling program in the world class “Fairway” of the San Juan Basin, direct investments in joint interest properties, and serve as a principle member of the team that orchestrated the offering of these properties to the market in 1991.
