Description

SPE-GCS High School Recruiting Fairs

This fall, the SPE Gulf Coast Section will be hosting its annual High School Recruiting Fairs. This event brings together students in an effort to introduce them to the oil and gas industry, as well as SPE, by having them hear from various speakers. Each recruiting fair is held at a different high school around the Houston metropolitan area in 2 hour intervals in the evening.

The purpose of the fairs is to make students excited about petroleum engineering through short lectures from a young professional, a university recruiter, and an experienced professional followed by an SPE representative discussing SPE’s scholarship and high school internship opportunities. Afterwards, students are given the chance to walk around and talk to various representatives from colleges and universities about their respective engineering programs, admissions, applications, and scholarships.
