My favorite college memory was having professors who often wrote the book on the subject that I was studying. Also, I still work with many of my classmates from that time in school. After 10 years working for other companies, I started my own oil and gas company with a classmate from UT. We have been going strong for the past 10 years. Until I received the SPE-GCS scholarship, I was unsure of the branch of engineering that I would follow. The SPE scholarship pushed me towards Petroleum Engineering. My advice to students is that most of the important lessons can be learned during these lean times. Stay with the industry, and remember these lean-time lessons when the booms come.
