Business Development A&D Symposium

Eric Marshall is a Managing Director and Co-COO of upstream investment banking at TPH&Co., the energy business of Perella Weinberg Partners.  He joined TPH in 2011, serving in roles of increasing seniority and responsibility.  Marshall has advised on energy transactions totaling ~$100 billion in aggregate value.

Marshall holds a BBA in Finance from TCU and an MBA in Investments from TCU.

Chris Atherton is the Chief Executive Officer and President of EnergyNet, Inc. EnergyNet is a technology-enabled upstream oil and gas asset acquisition and divestiture platform specializing in auction sales, negotiated sale transactions and government lease sales. Chris has been part of the EnergyNet team since 2002. He has been actively involved as the firm has completed over $10B in transactions including sell-side mandates from thousands of Exploration and Production clients. Chris leads a multi-disciplinary team of 50 professionals specializing in engineering, geology, land, technical, business development, marketing, application development and administration.

Chris has 25 years of experience in the energy industry. Chris graduated from Texas State in San Marcos with a business management and marketing degree. Prior to EnergyNet, Chris worked at the Enron Corporation in Houston, Texas

Chris currently serves as the president of the Houston Producers Forum and serves as the Business Development & Membership Chairman for the Independent Petroleum Association of America. In years past, Chris served as the Chairman of the Wildcatter’s Host Committee for the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and served as the Chairman for the SPE-Gulf Coast Section Business Development Group. Chris holds series 39, 22 and 63 SEC licenses.

Chris lives in Houston, Texas with his wife Mary and three children William, Andrew and Ava.

Denna Arias has joined Energy Domain Marketplace as Managing Director – Business Development Marketplace and is based in Houston, Texas.

Denna has over 25 years of A&D experience within the industry. Before joining Energy Domain as Vice President of Energy Domain Marketplace, she was Chief Corporate Development Officer of Opportune, and formerly Vice President of Corporate Development, Acquisitions & Divestitures, at EnergyNet.  She has led her company’s Business Development and Corporate Development efforts in the Upstream oil and gas space. She has also held previous positions in the industry at The Oil & Gas Asset Clearinghouse, DDD Energy, Inc, and Swift Energy Company.

She is actively engaged in the industry and community by serving as Publicity Chair for Society of Petroleum Engineer’s Business Development Group and 2025 Co-Chair of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Big Climb Event in Houston, Texas, as well as active memberships at Women in Minerals, HPF/Houston Producer’s Forum, Houston Energy Finance Group, ADAM, and other notable organizations.  In 2022, Mrs. Arias was an honoree for Hart Energy’s Influential Women in Energy and received the SPE Gulf Coast Business Development Volunteer Member of the Year Award. In addition, she holds a BBA in Business Administration from LeTourneau University and Petroleum Land Management certificate from the University of Houston-Downtown, as well as FINRA securities licenses.

Carolina Sierra serves as a Director, Technical at First Reserve. She is responsible for investment due diligence and monitoring with a technical reservoir perspective in upstream and midstream-related investments and early theme and trend identification throughout the energy value chain. Prior to joining First Reserve, she worked at Guggenheim Partners in the Energy practice. Prior to Guggenheim, she worked for BP as a Reservoir Engineer and SLB as a Drilling and Field Engineer.

Dan Pickering is the Chief Investment Officer at Pickering Energy Partners (PEP). PEP is a financial services firm focused on Investments and Advice in the energy sector – both traditional oil and gas and energy transition. Prior to PEP, he served as the President of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., and Chief Investment Officer of TPH Asset Management. He has spent 29 years as an Energy Portfolio Manager, Researcher, and Analyst, first at Fidelity Investments, then as Head of Research at Simmons & Company and as the founding partner of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.

He currently serves as the Portfolio Manager for several of PEP’s energy equity strategies, is on the Investment Committee of PEP’s energy co-investment and private equity strategies and serves in various business development and oversight roles across the firm.

Dan is the Board Chair of Merge Electric Fleet Solutions and also serves on the Advisory Boards for the Houston CFA Society, Capital Creek Advisors, Dynamo Energy Hub, Midway Companies, as well as the Posse Foundation, the Board of Trustees for Texas Children’s Hospital and the Texas Children’s Hospital Foundation.

He holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the Missouri School of Science and Technology and an MBA from the University of Chicago

Cristina Stellar serves as Managing Director and Senior Vice President at BOK Financial Securities in Houston. Prior to joining BOK Energy Investment Bank, Cristina was the Head of Business Development at Grizzly Energy (fka Vanguard Natural Resources) where she led the divestment of all company assets. Preceding Grizzly, she served for 13 years at Hess Corporation and began her career at PwC. Experienced internationally and in every domestic basin. She holds a master's in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, a bachelor's in economics, and a bachelor's in business administration from Charles III University of Madrid. Cristina’s A&D and market insights have been featured in numerous publications including Hart Energy, The American Oil & Gas Reporter, and NAPE Magazine, and was named Oil & Gas Investor’s 2024 Influential Women in Energy.

Carlos Santacruz is the Co-Head of Acquisitions and Divestitures (A&D) at Wells Fargo, focusing on Oil and Gas transactions, including asset sales, acquisitions, M&A, among others. He combines technical and financial expertise, having previously served as Co-Head of A&D at Goldman Sachs and as a part of the energy team at Citi. Before transitioning to banking, Carlos built a foundation in the oil and gas industry as a reservoir engineer and geologist, leading reserves valuation, development planning, reservoir simulation and geologic modeling.

Prior to joining Validus, Ben was a Managing Director at KKR where he led or was involved in over $5 billion of upstream investments. Prior to KKR, Ben was with Lime Rock Partners and was directly involved in numerous investments, with a particular focus in North American upstream oil & gas and oilfield equipment, manufacturing, and services. Prior to Lime Rock, he was with the natural resource’s investment banking group of J.P. Morgan in Houston. He is a graduate of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas with an M.P.A and B.B.A.

Clay Hubbard is Senior Vice President – Land and Business Development for Mach Natural Resources, LP (NYSE: MNR), an independent upstream oil and gas company with assets in the Anadarko Basin region of Central and Western Oklahoma, Southern Kansas and the panhandle of Texas.  Mr. Hubbard leads all A&D and Land efforts for the Company.

Prior to joining Mach in 2017, Mr. Hubbard served in various A&D and land roles at Tapstone Energy, SandRidge Energy and Chesapeake Energy. Much of his 17 years of experience has focused on projects in the Mid-Continent.

Mr. Hubbard holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Nazarene University. 

Jackie Haney is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of UnionRock. Jackie is responsible for implementation and execution of the firm’s investment strategy, including technical evaluation, reservoir analysis and portfolio management.

Before the founding of UnionRock, Jackie was a founding member of Copper Trail Partners and Cobalt Oil & Gas, partnering with institutional and family office investors to directly invest in working interest and mineral rights for the past nine years. Jackie was Manager of Acquisitions & Divestitures for Venoco, an upstream oil and natural gas company from 2007 to 2011.

Jackie began her career at ExxonMobil, followed by 5 years at Shell Corporation where she played a key role in designing, constructing and operating offshore and onshore oil and natural gas assets.

Jackie received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Jackie was recognized as one of the Top Women in Energy by the Denver Business Journal in 2019. She currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Colorado School of Mines Foundation and as a Board Member of the Laradon Hall Foundation.
