Mr. Larsen is President & CEO of Kraken Resources. He has 22 years of oil and gas exploration and production experience specializing in leadership, business development, resource identification, geologic modeling, reservoir characterization and operational geology.
Before forming Kraken, Mr. Larsen was Executive Vice President of Ursa Resources Group LLC, where he led the company’s Williston Basin entry, developed the company’s Bakken Shale geologic model, and oversaw leasing of 120,000 net acres. Before joining Ursa, Mr. Larsen spent eight years at Shell E&P where he identified, matured, and drilled multiple wells, and specialized in reservoir modeling and quantitative interpretation of seismic data. While at Shell, Mr. Larsen also worked as an Exploration Portfolio Manager in the company’s Corporate Headquarters in The Hague, where he evaluated, risked, screened and helped allocate the company’s $1.5 billion annual global exploration budget.
Mr. Larsen was born and raised in Sidney, Montana, at the epicenter of the Bakken Play in Elm Coulee Field and is intimately familiar with all aspects of the Williston Basin. He is a member of the AAPG, earned a B.S. Geological Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and an M.B.A. from Tulane University
