EDUCATION:

  • Willis (Huntsville) High School - 1992
  • Princeton - BA (History), certificate in Pre-Medicine
  • JD - University of Texas School of Law

My favorite college memories are exploring the campus at Princeton.  It is a historic institution in a beautiful setting with some of the sharpest minds of my generation.  Graduation day was a bittersweet culmination of several years' work.  Since graduating from law school, I have been an active duty officer in the U.S. Navy serving as part of the Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps.  I have served at sea aboard the USS Saipan and the USS George Washington, overseas in multiple assignments, including Japan during the 2011 tsunami, and within the Continental United States, including on the Washington Navy Yard at the time of the tragic shooting incident back in 2013.  I was recently selected for promotion to Commander.  Princeton is quite a ways away from Texas and travel costs and basic living expenses quickly added up.  The scholarship helped offset some of those expenses, particularly in the initial year of college, which is often the most challenging as it often takes time to just acclimate to the new environment. My advice to students is “Do not be afraid to challenge yourself.  You will learn more about yourself in doing so.”
