Design of a Successful Core Analysis Program for Formation Evaluation + Lab Tour

This course covers practices and techniques for gathering core analysis data to be used in formation evaluation.  The focus of the course will be routine core analysis and will include a closing discussion on special core analysis (SCAL) and application.  The course will begin with a brief introduction to core analysis, covering why core, types of cores, types of core analyses, and geology.  The course will then lead into the routine core analysis section beginning with core acquisition and the sampling process.  It will then delve into routine core analysis testing practices and measurements.  Key topics in this section include CT scans, cleaning, saturations, porosity, and permeability.

The course will close with special core analysis, providing an overview of petrophysics, flow studies, and rock mechanics. It includes a lab tour.

Overall, this short course aspires to leave participants with the information needed to design a successful core analysis program.
