Designing and Executing a Record Breaking Enhanced Geothermal System
Abstract:
Fervo Energy will present their groundbreaking Cape Station project, where a recent record-breaking 30-day flow test demonstrated the capability to generate 10 MWe from a single well—setting new benchmarks for the geothermal industry. The Cape Station project is poised to become one of the largest geothermal operations globally, advancing the U.S. Department of Energy’s goals years ahead of schedule. Fervo will also share insights from their Project Red, which has shown zero thermal decline after over 10 months of continuous production, a crucial factor for reducing risks and driving investment in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS).
ResFrac will describe the process of optimizing fracture design and well placement for an Enhanced Geothermal System - model construction, physics, and key engineering parameters. They will provide examples from FORGE and Fervo's recent projects.
