High School Recruiting Fairs
The Gulf Coast Section holds its annual high school recruiting fairs throughout the Greater Houston Area to encourage talented young students to consider a future in the oil & gas industry. Each recruiting fair is 2-3 hours long and held at a different high school each night. At these fairs, we provide information to high school students and parents about petroleum engineering degrees and careers including SPE scholarships and internships.
We are looking for SPE members to come share information about their industries with the future of the industry. We need both experienced and young professionals to give a 5 to 10 minute talk about how and why they got into oil and gas as well as what they've been able to do since arriving.
We also need a group of people to be available at our SPE booth to talk one on one with high school students who aspire to be engineers. We can use your experience even if your education isn't in petroleum engineering or engineering at all.
If you'd like to get involved, please contact Lucas Smith lucas_smith@ryderscott.com or Kimberly Thames kimberly_thames@oxy.com. The career fairs are November 1 - 5 and November 8 - 12 and will include Houston, Aldine, Cy-Fair, Conroe, Fort Bend, Katy, Spring and Spring Branch school districts. Please contact us for more details!
