Fundamentals of Practical Drilling Geomechanics

This course covers fundamental knowledge of geomechanics, and the geomechanical causes of wellbore instability. The learner will see the inputs to a geomechanical model, the key limits to a safe mud window, and be exposed to some geomechanical causes of wellbore instability and possible solutions. Some instability causes discussed will include time dependent wellbore failures, weak bedding planes, fault and fracture slip, and the effects of drilling direction. All topics will include examples of the problem and the solutions.
